~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Sambuca
Sambuca (GV Leon) 4/13/09 - 8/20/15
I have tried to write this a couple of times, but have a tough time putting into words how much Buca meant to us. He was an outstanding greyhound, never meeting a person he didn't like. Buca was quite an ambassador - people and children fell in love with him. If he saw someone, he felt it his duty to greet them and give them happiness by leaning up against them. He helped our newest grey overcome her shyness by setting the example of confidence and showing her that things just weren't that scary. Bu loved life and traveled with us, hiked with us, and greeted every experience with gusto. Even going to the vet was a fun thing for him. He left too early, though, due to complications with his heart. I guess his heart was just too full of love.
We miss you so much Buca, and all your friends are still asking for you. No one can believe you are gone. Thank you for being the best ever, you will never be forgotten.
With love always,
Eileen, Tom, and Lia (greyhound)
Ava (Freeride Sharp) July 28, 2007 - December 2, 2012 - August 25, 2015
It is with great sadness that we had to let our little girl go. She got cancer in her left leg, and we could
not stand to see her in pain or discomfort. We had her only 2 1/2 years but those were the best years
as she was our first greyhound and so unforgettable. She lit up a room with her energy and was always
so happy. She gave us so much joy and love, and we hope she is now smiling down on us, doing the
loops she was unable to do for a while now, free of pain. We will always love you, Ava, mommy's heart dog.
Cindy
8 years ago we picked up Cindy from you. Her racing name was Gallant Glitter. We had to put her down last night. It was peaceful. We can't tell you how grateful we are for having her as part of our family. She was the sweetest dog, and one of my best friends.
When we picked her up, you asked "What do you think?" My son, 11 years at the time answered "She's perfect". And she was perfect for us, and always will be in our hearts.
Tonight it rained with the sun partially out. I knew I would see a rainbow, and when I did, my heart was filled with love. I know she is happy, running ovals, which she hasn't been able to do for awhile now.
Thanks to you, Linda, and Greyhound Friends of New Jersey for enriching our lives with Cindy, and for all of the wonderful work you do.
Frisky Lyon
We have helped our dear Frisky complete his journey here with us today. Though we know he is in a better place and free of pain, we are truly heartbroken and so sorry this day had to come, too quickly for us. We are so fortunate to have known, loved and cared for him, an “old soul”, as they say. Very wise, faithful friend. Frisky, a million thank yous for being part of our lives and letting us feel your love. We will hold you dear to our hearts forever.
I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One
Lucas
Our wonderful greyhound of 11 years has left us tonight. He was 13. He lost all use of his rear legs. He had a long wonderful happy life with us. He will be missed.
Love you Lucas. Say hi to Bradley, Jake and lacey.
