PWS Wild Shot is a very handsome brindle boy. He's had a rough start and broke his leg in June while racing and it was treated there. Even though the leg doesn't look beautiful, our surgeon, after a thorough examination and xrays told us that the leg is stable and will improve with nice walks and exercise.
This sweet boy was on the dog hauler headed north from Florida with no place to go--no rescue group spoke up for him. GFNJ was asked to take him and we're so happy to have him. He was 3 in September and is cat tolerant with supervision. This boy is just very nice and happy to have a comfy bed and attention.
Foster Update 11/9/2011:
Shooter, as we are calling him, is a very sweet boy. He is only timid when he meets a new face and that lasts just a minute. He is very playful. He has found the toy chest and he loves emptying it with his foster brother and spreading them all over the house. He's a great catcher! He can be very "Zen", calmly watching the fish swimming in the tank.
He loves his walks and is doing much better using his injured leg. He uses it most of the time now in the house and half the time when in the yard. I've noticed that the times he doesn't use it is when he's in a hurry to get somewhere or if he's unsure of something or someone. He then reverts back to the 3 legged hop. It doesn't hurt him and I really think its become a habit that he is learning to break.
He is learning some commands also. He knows to "wait" like a gentleman before he can eat the food in his bowl. He knows what "lay down" means and he know what "no" means. "No" garbage cruising, "no" counter surfing...you get the picture. He knows "come" means that there is usually a biscuit or a petting to be had. He goes up and down stairs like a pro now also.
I think he likes the company of the other dogs. I call He and Wyatt the Bobsey Twins because they are always side by side, looking for what ever mischief they can find. Keeping that in mind I believe he would do better with another dog in the house.
He crates during the day with no trouble and has free roam when we are home. He sleeps on a pillow in our bedroom with the rest of the dogs at night. He showed some playful interest in the cats at first, but now ignores them. He is fully housetrained.
Shooter would make a great additional to any household with another dog. He gets along well with all the people we have had him in contact with including children.
