Encarna is a real love and a leaner. She is a very pretty little girl who will turn 5 years old in June. She was described by the folks in Spain as "a fantastic, Velcro dog." She is in a foster home with the other Galgo, Africa, who arrived with her. Encarna "Carny" loves to play with stuffies but doesn't tear them apart. She is content to sleep on her bed in the living room at night. She is able to do the steps just fine but doesn't show a lot of interest in going upstairs. She seems fine with small dogs, having met a neighbors little dog on a walk. They just sniffed each other. She is getting the hang of living in a home and enjoys curling up on a nice dog bed.
Requirements and information to adopt
Galgos are a different breed from racing greyhounds and as such can be more energetic.
**They can jump and climb and we do require a minimum of a 6 foot fence for any Galgo that we adopt.
They are generally very sweet and very cute.
They usually require the company of another greyhound or dog.
The adoption fee to adopt a Galgo from GFNJ is $500 which only partially defrays the cost of transportation and vetting expenses.
If you are interested in getting more information, please call Linda at 732-356-4370. You won't regret adopting a Galgo!!
Encarna is fully vetted and has been tested negative for Leishmaniosis
