About Africa

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: Light Brindle

Africa is a cute as a button Galgo.  She will be one year old on June 1st but acts less like a puppy than the Galgo who arrived with her, Encarna (5years old). She likes to play with Encarna (Carny) with a little wrestling and running in the yard. She is crated when the foster family is at work and she is fine with that. She sleeps through the night and rides very well in the car. Africa likes to play with toys and enjoys chewing on hard rubber toys. She is slightly reserved around a lot of people and dogs but does very well for a puppy and is learning quickly. She is a happy girl and walks well on a leash but does get excited when she sees a rabbit or squirrel.  She has met little dogs and is fine with them.  Africa is an affectionate dog.

Requirements and information to adopt
Galgos are a different breed from racing greyhounds and as such can sometimes be more energetic.

**They can jump and climb and we do require a minimum of a 6 foot fence for any Galgo that we adopt.
They are generally very sweet and very cute.
They usually require the company of another greyhound or dog.

The adoption fee to adopt a Galgo from GFNJ is $500 which only partially defrays the cost of transportation and vetting expenses.
If you are interested in getting more information, please call Linda at 732-356-4370. You won't regret adopting a Galgo!!

Africa is fully vetted and has been tested negative for Leishmaniosis
